Resumo

According to the International Energy Agency,1 the electricity market is one of the most promising fi elds for renewable energy development. Furthermore, energy policy is among the most relevant public policies for sustainable development. Therefore, regulatory policies in energy markets are touchstones in environmental strategies. These policies can work both as facilitators of environmental goals and as obstacles to such goals’ fulfi lment. Due to this interconnection and for the sake of policy coordination it is necessary to align objectives pursued and means used within each of the referred policies.
