Resumo

With the UK’s exit from the EU (Brexit) in 2019, the UK will pass from EU with associated full rights and obligations to third country status. The UK announced its intention to leave both the single market and the EU customs union, albeit only after a transition period. In addition, the UK’s membership of all EU trade agreements ends automatically on the day of Brexit. This chapter considers the political economy of Brexit. It focuses on the EU after Brexit and notably on implications for regional integration and trade agreements. It also critically assesses the UK’s stated aim to become a global trading nation post-Brexit.
