Resumo

In number 123.3-4 (2010) of the current journal, the second author with Samuel Moawad revealed a hitherto unknown medieval Melkite calendrical source on the basis of extensive extracts preserved in the Kitāb al-Tawārīḩ by Abū Šākir Ibn al-Rāhib (1257). In this article, another source used by this author of the golden age of the Coptic Arabic literature is brought to light: a work from the late patristic age (middle of the 6th cent.) by the monk Alexander of Cyprus entitled Historical Discourse on the Invention of the Holy Cross (CPG 7398) of which the existence of an Arabic version was hitherto totally unknown. It is hard to form a precise idea on this version from the two short extracts that have been preserved. But certain clues lead us to believe that Ibn al-Rahib may well have found the passages in an old Arabic Melkite homiliary.
